The true meaning of Christmas...

This morning Alex and I were able to participate in part of a Christmas Miracle. Our church was hosting one of ten "Night of Wonder" parties to take place within the next 72 hours for less fortunate families in the HEB area.

6Stones (http://www.6stones.org) is an awesome Christian-based non-profit agency that began working with the HEB ISD several months ago after a very successful backpack drive for low income families at the start of the school year. A partnership developed between the school district and 6stones, and together with several local churches and businesses we will be bringing the true meaning of Christmas to over 600 less fortunate families in our community!!!!

This morning our church, Shady Oaks, kicked off the event by hosting a party for almost 70 families including well over a hundred kids! Each family got to hear the story of the birth of our savior, Jesus. After which the children were able to make a special girt for their parents while dozens of elves helped the parents load gifts for each child to open and food for the family to enjoy together on Christmas day. I have been fortunate enough to work with 6stones from its' infancy and once again I was inspired to watch how God has used volunteers to spread his word in our community. Thank you Scott and Melba for all the hard work, and thank you to the hundreds of volunteers that helped to make day one of the Night of Wonder Program a success!
Oh yeah, it's not too late to help! check out the website http://www.nightofwonder.org/ for more information!
